Tokyo Minato-ku Shibakouen 4-2-8

This is a full-purpose radio tower in Shiba Park in Minato City, Tokyo. The tower began operating in 1958, and has remained as a landmark symbol of Tokyo, receiving many tourists from both in and out of Japan every year. Reaching 333 meters at its apex, the tower has a main observation deck at 150 meters, and a top deck at 250 meters, providing a panoramic view of the greater Tokyo area. The lighting of the tower, changed seasonally in various colors, is popular with many. A commercial complex, the Foot Town, is arrayed with souvenir, character goods, and eatery shops at the base of the tower.

I did enjoy going up this tower to the top. The views were very impressive. It is well run with many friendly staff. A must do in Tokyo.

Come here when you’re looking for “honmamon” (the genuine article).

Located in Tokyo’s Taito City, this is an approximately 500 meter-long market street along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno Stations. The street is lined with all types of shops including grocery stores, clothing stores and miscellaneous good stores, and is well-known for being crammed with people buying goods for the New Year’s holidays during the year-end season.

Osaka Osakashi Kita-ku Oyodonaka 1-1-88 Umeda Sky Building

An observatory facility located at the top of the 173 meter high Umeda Sky Building skyscraper located in Osaka City’s Kita Ward. Visitors can enjoy a 360 degree panorama of the streets of Osaka from the open air Sky Walk circular gallery, and many tourists both Japanese and international alike come to this famous spot to view the setting sun and Osaka’s nightscape. At night, the area is lit up by small, foot-level lights, creating a magical atmosphere. There is a fence at the site where lovers can attach a heart-shaped padlock to vow their love for one another, a popular destination for couples on dates. There is also a café on the 40th floor where you can take a break while enjoying the view.

A very interesting structure and the view from the top is fantastic. There are a few shops and a cafe at the top and a lot of interesting information on how the building was constructed.

Osaka Osakashi Naniwa-ku Ebisuhigashi 1-18-6

A viewing tower located in Naniwa Ward, Osaka City and a famous Osaka landmark. Originally erected in 1912 and modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the current 108 meter tower is actually the second Tsutenkaku. The fourth and fifth floors are a viewing floor overlooking Osaka. There are figures of the Seven Gods of Fortune on the fifth floor as well as a statue of Billiken which is said to bring good luck when the soles of its feet are rubbed. The tower is filled with other interesting things to see and do, including the Kinnikuman Museum; a café produced by Mother Farm; and showroom shops by Morinaga, Glico, and Nisshin.

Gifu Ono-gun Shirakawamura Ogimachi

The Gassho-Zukuri Village of Ogimachi, Shirakawa-go in Gifu Prefecture was registered as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1995. Of the three villages registered as the World Heritage Site, this is the largest, with 59 buildings featuring Gassho-zukuri roofs. There is plenty worth getting a look at, from the castle tower observation deck as an absolutely perfect viewpoint of Shirakawa-go to the Wada house, which is a Nationally-Designated Important Cultural Property, the Nagase house, which features one of the largest Gassho-style roofs in the village, a rare Gassho-style temple, and Myozenji Museum. Tokyo Chuou-ku Hamarikyuteien

This is a traditional garden located in the Chuo City of Tokyo with a unique Shioiri-no-ike (pond). “Shioiri” is a technique of drawing in sea water and using its tidal movements to change the shape of the pond. Hama-rikyu is one of the most famous Edo period gardens with its Shioiri-no-ike and its two goose-hunting places. On the island in the middle of the pond is the “Nakajima-no-ochaya (central island teahouse)” where guests can have tea and traditional cakes. The gardens are a nine-minute walk from Shiodome Station. In spring, visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms, while in autumn cosmos flowers and colorful fall foliage make for splendid sights.

Located in Oshiage, Sumida City, this is a 634-meter tall broadcasting tower with an observatory that became Tokyo's new symbol when it opened in 2012. There are actually two observatories, the Tembo Deck at 350 meters above ground and the Tembo Galleria that is 450 meters high. The Tembo Galleria has tube-shaped glass walls, giving you the sensation that you are strolling through the sky as you gaze out at Tokyo's daytime and night-time scenery. At the base of the tower is Tokyo Skytree Town, a facility that is more like a shopping mall with stores and restaurants.

This Japanese stroll garden is located in Okayama City and named one of the Big Three Japanese Gardens. Construction of the garden began in 1687 by Tsunamasa Ikeda, Lord of Okayama, with its initial completion in 1700. Since this time, it was beloved and enjoyed as a place of relaxation for the feudal lord and as a place of interaction with the retainers and people of the domain. One can see the footprints of history through the structural remains preserved in the expansive 144,000 square meters area and enjoy blooms in each season dotting the park. This is an observation deck in Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. It overlooks TOKYO SKYTREE, Tokyo Tower, the Odaiba area, Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, etc., and Mt. Fuji and Boso Peninsula in Chiba can also be seen when the weather is fine. It has varying charm from day, sunset and at night, and many visitors return time and again. "This residence and Sengan-en Garden of the Shimazu Clan was built in 1658, by Shimazu Mitsuhisa, the 19th head of the clan. It was well-loved by Shimazu Nariakira, the 28th head of the clan, and visitors to this beautiful garden where Atsu-hime and Saigo Takamori also visited can enjoy the same magnificent views of Kinko Bay and Mt. Sakurajima as they enjoyed. The garden is approximately five hectares in size, with different flowers blooming with the changing of the seasons and various festivities which take place conveying the traditions of the samurai to the present. There are also a wide range of restaurants and shops where visitors can enjoy Satsuma's local cuisine while sightseeing. This is a Japanese garden in Himeji City. The gardens were opened in 1992 and make the best use of the ruins of the samurai residence at Himeji Castle Nishioyashiki-ato. The gardens are on grounds of approximately 3.3 hectare and command a view of the World Heritage Site, Himeji Castle—and the gardens contains a group of nine different types of garden such as “The garden of the Lord’s residence” which has a large pond that is home to 250 colourful carp and a waterfall. The Tamatorusaki Observation Deck offers wonderful views over the seas off Ishigaki Island. Directly in front is the emerald-green waters of Ibaruma Bay; on the left one can see the Hirakubo Peninsula (known colloquially as the “Shisa (Lion-Dog) Tail”). Hibiscus, Sago Palm and Screw Pine bloom along the side of the path that leads from the car park up to the Observation Deck, allowing visitors to enjoy a relaxing stroll with a “tropical” atmosphere.
